Plant People and Casper Join Forces to Discuss Today’s Sleep Shortage Epidemic
In today’s digital age, people struggle to disconnect and turn off their phone.

The love of one’s smartphone is the primary reason why sleep quality has decreased drastically in recent years. A National Sleep Foundation poll found that when people used an interactive technological device –– such as cell phones or laptops –– an hour before bed, they were more likely to experience difficulty falling asleep and wake up feeling unrefreshed. This sleep shortage isn’t just a problem though, it’s an epidemic. An estimated 50 to 70 million Americans suffer from sleeplessness, and these numbers continue to rise. Fortunately though, CBD a natural sleep aid, can help.

But instead, to combat this lack of shut-eye, people are turning to dangerous prescription sleeping pills. Even though these medications might offer some immediate relief, the effects on an individual’s mental and physical health are detrimental. Headaches, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and hallucinations are just a few of the short-term issues that arise as a result of sleeping pills. Not to mention, people who regularly take these medications have been found to have an increased risk for dementia and cancer.

On Tuesday, Plant People and Casper hosted an exciting lunch and learn to discuss redefining your sleep with all-natural CBD products and a good mattress. The main takeaway?

Anxiety causes insomnia and insomnia causes anxiety. It's a terrible cycle. Our relationships with technology don't help. So where does CBD come in...?

CBD is a natural sleep aid because it reduces anxiety.

CBD is a cannabinoid, which our bodies also produce through the Endocannabinoid system. This system regulates many bodily functions including mood and impacts how we feel pain. To reduce anxiety specifically, though, CBD interacts with the receptors in our brains that produce serotonin. It "turns on" the receptor in the same way serotonin does. Increased serotonin = improved sleep cycles and reduced anxiety.

To explore transforming your sleep quality, check out Plant People’s Calm Capsules. The formulation includes full-spectrum CBD and clinical strength adaptogenic and nervine herbs. It can reduce anxiety and calm restless energy and perhaps most importantly maximize the moment your head hits the pillow.
